The Academy Awards offers a night of recognition and magic to all of those responsible for bringing the films we have enjoyed to life before our eyes on the silver screen. The 2014, 86th annual Academy Awards was filled with all the excitement any dream capturing moment can hold.

The beautiful gowns, red carpet, and the priceless golden statues all create an amazing night as the nominees and audience wait anxiously for the winners to be announced. The Best Picture award went to 12 Years a Slave; a movie sharing the story of an African American man born free but kidnapped and sold into slavery. Lupita Nyong'o won the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and captured the heart of many people around the world with her acceptance speech.

The other award winners included Matthew McConaughey for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Dallas Buyers Club), Cate Blanchett for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Blue Jasmine), and Jared Leto for Best Supporting Actor (Dallas Buyers Club).

The host of the evening, Ellen DeGeneres, kept the special event fun with pizza and an impromptu Oscar selfie. The Oscars, a wonderful celebration of the artists who make the movies we love.
