Wade, Bosh to Miami: Lebron Silent, Schedules Presser for Thurs. Night

ESPN broke reports last night that free agents Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh have both committed to play for the Miami Heat and will announce their agreements at a press conference later today. This gives Miami their main target in retaining Wade and attracting the #3 free-agent on the market to South Florida. Bosh will give the Heat both grit on the inside and versatility from mid-range at the '4' spot that they've badly needed. Reports also surfaced that the soon-to-be teammates spoke with Lebron James via conference call to report their intentions. James has still not spoken out about his choice and has worked with ESPN to televise a one-hour special at 9 P.M. for his announcement. The possibility of James joining the Heat, along with Wade and Bosh, seems reinvigorated since recent indications pointed to him signing elsewhere. If Miami doesn't end up as the landing spot of James, the Heat could look in a number of directions, including point guard. Andre Miller of the Trailblazers could be available and rumors abound that they could be willing to trade guard Mario Chalmers, 2008 draft #2 overall Mike Beasley and pick to acquire more pieces to the puzzle. One thing seems for certain: Barring a James signing on Thursday, it seems that Chicago is left out of the big free-agent parade. The Bulls heavily courted Wade, Bosh and James and hopes to land at least one out of three. However, with the Knicks recent signing of Amare Stoudemire, New York has entered the picture as well. What a shame it would be if the Bulls had $30 million under the cap and no big name to spend it on. By: Brian Cox
