Arizona, who defeated Iowa (#18 AP and USA Today) 34-27, achieved its highest ranking since 1998 when they closed the polls as #4 in the nation. The Wildcats are ranked #14 in the AP and #16 in the USA Today poll. -Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio suffered a heart attack after his team's win over Notre Dame, school officials reported today. He was hospitalized and had surgery to put a stent into a blocked blood vessel leading to his heart. While Dantonio's heart damage is considered to be minimal, there is no timetable for his return. In his absence, the Spartans will be coached by offensive coordinator Don Treadwell. - It was bad enough that Houston lost to UCLA 31-13 and dropped out of the polls, but they've also lost their star quarterback and his backup. Senior QB Case Keenum will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL while attempting to make a tackle on an interception. Last week against UTEP, he suffered a concussion while also trying to make a tackle after an interception. Keenum entered this season as a Heisman contender and the Cougars were favorites to win Conference USA. He will finish his career at Houston just short of eclipsing a few NCAA passing records and will leave as the #5 passer in FBS history. Keenum's backup, junior Cotton Turner, broke his collarbone in the UCLA game and will miss the rest of the season as well. The reigns for the high powered air attack are expected to be handed over to freshman QB Terrence Broadway.
