What may fans expect from the new season of 24: Live Another Day?
What may fans expect from the new season of 24: Live Another Day?
The 24: Live Another Day 24-hour debut will be televised on Sunday, May 24th, 2014. Javier Grillo-Marxuach is a co-executive producer and writer. Since 24 executive producers, Howard Gordon and Manny Coto had their contracts expire with the end of the last season.
Why 24 was so popular, and how has it changed over time?
The 24 show is a dramatic 24-episode series about Jack Bauer, a Counter Terrorist Unit agent, and the events in the day leading up to and during 24 hours. 24: Live Another Day is the newest rendition of this show. 24 has been broadcasted in more than 175 countries and sold into 120 different countries worldwide.
24 has been on television for 12 years. In that time, it has seen many changes in what they can do with the episodes. 24: Live Another Day will be airing its first episode on Monday, May 5th, at 9 PM central time. The 24: Live Another Day season will be 24 episodes long, and it will air on FOX TV for 24 consecutive days beginning on May 5th. 24: Live Another Day will begin four years after the final season of 24 has ended, and it will be a 12-hour event that won't have any breaks between episodes.
The 24 show initially premiered on November 6th, 2001, with a two-hour special episode called "12:00 PM – 1:00 PM". 24: It had nine seasons, and it was considered one of the most popular television shows. The show went from being aired every week for 24 consecutive days to showing each season over 24 straight weeks. In 2010 24 broke new ground by broadcasting an entire 24-hour episode of the series in real-time. These hour-long episodes took place during one day of the 24 hours shown in that 24-episode season. This new process was a dramatic change in the way 24: was shown, and it allowed for 24 to be much more competitive in various ways.
The 24 show began airing in 2001, and at the time, there wasn't anything else on TV like it. 24: had been on television for nearly ten years before any competition came along. Still, it is returning as 24: Live Another Day four years after they last broadcasted a new 24 episode. The fictional setting of each 24 episode takes place primarily in Los Angeles, California, with some taking place outside of the city limits and internationally. Jack Bauer's movements will take place exclusively inside these limits with no international travel involved whatsoever. Since the 24: Live Another Day 24 episode event will take place over one 24 hour period, viewers should expect to see the same 24 cast members return. 24: Live Another Day is a 12-episode season. All of those episodes are scheduled to air consecutively without any breaks in between.
Javier Grillo-Marxuach has been involved with 24 since it first aired on television! Javier was a co-producer for 24 during its third season, and he became a producer on the show starting with the fourth season. That's when Javier began to write as well. Javier wrote four episodes before his work with 24 began to end after his involvement with Season 7.
The legacy that Jack Bauer left behind, and what fans hope for in future seasons
Six years after Jack Bauer's final mission on 24, he is returning to the small screen. Original star Kiefer Sutherland has reignited interest by sharing photos of Jack-inspired tattoo art and teasing Jack's new adventures on his fictional Twitter account. The question on many fans' minds is what Jack will be up against this time around? Will Jack still be fighting terrorists, or will he be trying to stop something new? As of yet, very few details are known about the next installment of Jack's saga beyond rumors claiming it may take place in London with Jack having gone into hiding after a catastrophe that claimed many lives.
"Jack never had any fear," said Simon Miraudo. Jack's next adventure "Jack was Jack, and they gave him the freedom to be Jack. Anything less would've been a tragedy."
Heidi Tandy agrees with Miraudo, stating that Jack is such an iconic character because he is one-of-a-kind. She believes Jack should be doing unique things in his adventures rather than imitating what has already been done. "I think there are lots of great stories Jack could tell," said Tandy. "But if they are going to do another season, I hope it moves away from terrorism as the context for the dangers Jack faces."
Many fans agree with these views regarding show continuity but still want to see Jack brought back on TV screens, even if it means bringing back some of Jack's old enemies. Jack faced many enemies during his eight seasons, but fans believe it may be time to see what Jack can do when he isn't up against terrorists bent on destroying the United States.
"The Jack we were introduced to in Season One was a man with few friends and no social life," said Nick Freeman, "Jack has aged well, however, and I'd like to see him happy for once."
Whether Jack is facing new dangers or former foes, Sutherland himself believes Jack still has many stories left to tell. Back in 2010, after 24 ended its run on primetime television, Sutherland stated, "It's one of those rare situations where you find yourself as an actor looking for that next job not because you need it but because you want it." Jack and his legacy are something Sutherland wants to continue.
